This is another project that is currently making the rounds. It’s called JUMP. I use watercolor and dark pencil to color, shade, and line the images. Then I scan everything into the computer, piece by piece, and assemble the illustration digitally.
April 8th is coming! That’s the book birthday for my fourth picture book THE SIMPLES LOVE A PICNIC. But this book is special because it’s my first book with HOUGHTON MIFFLIN HARCOURT and I couldn’t be happier about it!
Here’s the trailer. Enjoy!
I’ve been playing around with different illustration styles because not everyone loves collage and I can do different things.
These illustrations are from a project my agent is shopping around called BAD BALLOON. This naughty fellow is done in watercolor with a loose ink line drawn with my very old, crusty quill pen. I really enjoy the scratchy line it produces.
My fourth book, THE SIMPLES LOVE A PICNIC, comes out April 8th! It’s a funny, peppy story about a family that tries to go on a simple picnic. Turns out to be a bit complex! Check out the stop-motion trailer.
